This writer recalls driving past the 1984 Harvest Fair late in the day after a long leaf-peeping drive, wandering aimlessly through western Massachusetts. We didn't stop because things were closing down for the day. But I remember it as a beautiful fall day. Seeing the Harvest Fair in the town of my ancestors was the icing on the cake and I recall thinking, as we crossed the CT/MA line on 189 going south, "We'll be back to this very special place." And so it has been.
