The Granville "school bus" proceeding west past the Noble & Cooley drum shop at 42 Water Street, Granville, Massachusetts.
This photo was taken prior to the removal of the bridge in the background, which ran between N&C buildings 14 and 15. It was removed when the old fire station was built . Most of the fire department volunteers worked at Noble & Cooley so it made sense to locate the station on the N&C premises so the volunteers could run from their work stations and to the fire station to respond to fire calls.
The old fire station still stands and houses the 1947 Ford fire truck. The old truck could barely make it up Granville Hill so eventually the new fire station was constructed behind Town Hall and the old truck replaced with bigger, faster equipment.
