Description

A group of Granville men who gathered to cut wood for Joe Dickinson, who had been shot in a hunting accident.

A note with the photo indicates it was taken on land belonging to the Hiers family in what is now the meadow which would be the area off Granby Road (near the mill and Cooley & Company).

This photo was shared on the Facebook (now "Meta") Granville-Tolland community page on 28 Oct 2021. Thanks to community comments Rebecca Hawley-Turcotte was able to add the following to the story of this photo: "He was with my grandfather [Harold Hansen] when he was injured, and actually it was from people that didn’t know what they were doing hunting. My grandfather never went hunting again." Darcy Jill Clifford also shared that "he was hospitalized for a long time after being shot by another."
