Description

An autograph book that belonged to Christiana Rowley. It is signed by a number of Granville friends and neighbors, starting in the 1880's.

Mrs. Rowley came to Granville with her two daughters after her husband Charles Rowley died at Andersonville prison in 1864. She lived on the Rowley farm at what is now Bruce Road, with Charles' mother Mehitable Rowley, whose husband Thomas had died in 1855. Mehitable has lost another son, John, who was killed in battle in 1863. A third son, Henry, survived the war.

in 1865 Christiana married William Rowley, another of Thomas and Mehitable's sons. William and Christiana had six additional children, for a total of eight including Charles' two daughters.
