Title
Water Street, 0348, Asa Seymour House, 1785
Description
348 Water Street, Asa Seymour House, 1785. MACRIS Inv. # GRN 101
This house was discussed on the Granville Community Forum, May 2018. The following information was crowd-sourced:
1. Asa Seymour was a Mayflower descendant.
2. At one time the house was owned by Peter Overson. He was born around 1865 in Denmark and well liked in town. He is said to have had one leg, the other being made of wood, thus his nickname, "Peg Leg Pete."
3. The house was later the location of Sophie's Beauty Salon (into the 1980's). The front room on the south side still has holes in the flooring for the old beauty shop plumbing. The present owner of the house found the old sign in the garage (see picture).
