Title

Elmer Wells Bronson / Alma Phelon [Stow?] Family, old Blandford Road, Granville, Massachusetts

Description

These digital images were contributed by David Cesan in August, 2019. His description of the first and second photos above follows:

"Late 1940s. Wells and Elma Phelon [Stow?] Bronson at their home on old Blanford Rd.
Second photo shows Wells with my grandmother Flora Mackinnon Welcome. Flora was from Boston and both of her parents had died when she was but nine years old and she became a ward of the State. Somehow through the Granville Church she and her brother Daniel went to live with the Bronson family about 1909 as State kids or farm help. In 1916 Daniel was carrying two pails of milk in from the barn and was struck by lightning. He lived a few weeks and died at Cooley Dickinson Hospital."
The next two pictures are of the family farm. The next picture is of Harold Chapman, 1941. The last photo is of hog butchering at the farm.
"Butchering a hog with Wells Bronson and Harold Chapman is probably helping too. Looks like the hog was just dipped in the hot water and the scrapers are being used to remove the hair."
