The note on the envelope that contained the glass negative is not clearly legible but guesses include, "Recd Machine" (received machine) which doesn't match the photo given there is no machine visible. Another guess was "Read" or "Reed." Another possibility is that the glass negative was put back in the wrong envelope some time over the past 100 or so years so the note has nothing to do with the photo.
