DC: "That beautiful Diamond T was the Cadillac of trucks. I think it was a 1947 or '48. When the Fire Dept. retired the truck it came up for public bid. I was high bidder with a bid of $777.77 and surprisingly the only bidder. I drove the truck home and the Hampden Fire Dept. played with it for the day pumping water, etc. Eventually the truck was sold to K.M. of East Windsor who had three tobacco barns full of antique trucks."

GH: "Just a quick footnote. This would have been taken at the old Fire Department building, which is still standing at the Noble & Cooley drum shop on Water Street. As the town purchased newer and bigger fire engines the building had to be raised several feet from its original height to accommodate the modern equipment."

DLM: "My father was a volunteer fireman in the 60's I don't remember the dates but I do remember him flying out of the driveway when the siren went off."
