According to Granville legend, Granville's Dr. Fenn (first name subject to research) was the final owner of "Old Joe," the famous war-horse ridden by Colonel Burnham during the Civil War. Burnham named the horse after Brigadier "Fighting Joe" Joseph Hooker (
CLICK HERE for his Hooker's Civil War service).
"Old Joe" was driven by Dr. Fenn for the last thirteen years of the horse's life. "Old Joe" died on the last day of the year (year TBD).
Col. Burnham was possibly George S. Burnham of the 22nd Connecticut Infantry. Subject to further research.
