Comments follow:<br /><br />GP: "<span>I drove the winners in ‘59 and ‘60. I believe Nancy won in ‘60. I can’t recall the girl I drove in ‘59. She lived in West Granville on North Lane. Don’t believe she was in town too long."<br /><br />VS: "It may have been Araina Brown Heath."<br /><br />GP: "That’s who it was. Thanks."<br /><br />DJC: "I believe my aunt Bonnie Blakesley King won a year or two."<br /><br />MPR (to GP): " I’d forgotten you drove those winners in your convertible. Maybe your parents took pictures too."<br /><br />MPR: "My sister and I are in there. I don’t want to name any others in case they don’t want to be identified."<br /><br /><br /></span>

Boston & Albany Train Derailment, November 7, 1939
A nine car train derailed on 07 Nov 1939, injuring five passengers and bruising dozens. The derailment occurred on the section of line somewhere between Westfield and Springfield.
The photos were taken by one of the Hiers brothers. It appears the photographer was either on the train or in the immediate vicinity at the time of the derailment given the number of passengers in the photos who seem to have just exited the passenger compartments.

Ford Model T Donation to Noble & Cooley Center for Historic Preservation
On November 15, 2021 the Noble & Cooley Center for Historic Preservation (NCCHP) in Granville, MA. was the recipient of a most generous donation made by Mr. Wilson Rider of Granville. Mr. and Mrs. Rider owned this Model T Ford for many years and enjoyed it on tours with the area Model T club, as well as "Sunday drives" around the Granville area. Their longest trip in the T was a round-trip to Orange, Ma.
The Model T is shown here with Mr. Rider and Matt Jones, President of NCCHP. Mr. Rider commented that he is pleased that the Model T will be staying in Granville, and hopes to see it in future local parades. NCCHP is most grateful for this kind donation.
Granville and NCCHP thank you, Wilson Rider!

Drum Makers' Ball, 1860 and 1863
Flyers for the Drum Makers' Ball, 31 Dec 1860 and 01 Jan 1863. The 1860 event was only months before the beginning of the Civil War. The 1863 event occurred on the day the Emancipation Proclamation went into effect. The Civil War would continue for over 2 more years, ending in 1865.
The Drum Makers' Ball ticket cost of $2.00 was quite substantial at that time.
